Tallgums is nestled on the edge of the Barrington Tops National Park. With-in 5 minutes walk from the cabin. You will be immersed in the rainforest. Soaring Blue Gums, some which are over 1000 years old and the tallest trees in Australia.
Our lovely cabin is part of the Barrington Wildness Cottages. Our cabin is positioned at the end of a row with a private veranda. Taking in the breathtaking forest in front.
King Parrots come and feed. Rosella's flock by for a snack. We have so much beautiful bird life. This is before leaving the comfort of your veranda.
The cabin sleeps maximum 5 adults. Three king single beds are in the upstairs loft. Main queen bedroom is downstairs. Premium mattresses for pure comfort.
We have a powerful reverse cycle air-conditioning unit. That will warm those winter chills and cool off that summers day.
The rugged ranges also reach higher here, peaking at 1577 metres, which is more than half a kilometre higher than Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. Ushering in periods of heavy snow in winter, this elevated altitude makes for some wild weather changes throughout the year, where it may be bright and sunny in the morning and hailstorming in the afternoon.
But no matter the weather, if you want to get away from it all, this is the place to be. Within the magnificent Barrington Tops parklands, you will find an array of bushwalking trails, incredible lookouts and unforgettable riverside camping and picnic spots, with the most amazing wildlife only a stone’s throw away. From trout fishing and bird watching, to white water kayaking and 4WDriving, if you want outdoor adventure, you can get it all right here.
Of course, outdoor adventuring is not all this area has to offer. Your next visit to Barrington Tops could see you sampling local wines at any of the area’s picturesque vineyards. Or, it could find you uncovering rural charm in the beautiful riverside towns of Dungog and Gloucester, discovering more about the region’s intriguing past, checking out vibrant local festivals or simply enjoying that famed country hospitality.
A weekend of wilderness fun. Off the grid, at one with nature.
Our stay was amazing. Just perfect. Already planning our next trip back.
We had a fantastic time at the cabin. The birds were so abundant. Absolutely lovely!
Absolutely gorgeous spot nestled right at the edge of the Rainforest - at the end of a separated row of 2 storey cabins so you have an extra feel of privacy and space. Beautifully renovated interiors, lovely comfortable furniture, nice kitchen and premium bedding. Aesthetically, the place manages to feel warm and rustic but with modern touches. Overall, it is so peaceful and rejuvenating here - highly recommended. Easy and responsive contact from the hosts - thank you - we really enjoyed our time here.
We loved the privacy and unobstructed views to the rainforest. Being at the end of the row was perfect. The cabin is very comfortable and beautifully done.
A special place to get away in nature. The cabin is clean and equipped. We had a very comfortble stay.
